Here's a Pontiac G8 review we never though we'd see. RideLust.com recently wrote an article entitled "10 Cars That Are Guaranteed To Get You Laid".

Here’s a Pontiac G8 review we never though we’d see. RideLust.com recently wrote an article entitled “10 Cars That Are Guaranteed To Get You Laid”. Featured on that list was a garage full of supers and exotics including the Lamborghini Gallardo, Corvette ZR-1, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and others. All cars that would undoubtedly help Screech nail Kelly Kapowski.

But what about the rest of us guys who have to blink twice before ever comprehending the ability to drop $250,000 on a car? Well RideLust didn’t forget about us as they just published “10 Cars That Are Guaranteed To Get You Laid [On A Budget]“.

The Pontiac G8 GT came in at number 4 on the list, and while we (ahem) haven’t proven the theory correct, we can agree that the G8 will help you test out the 7-series size back seat with a little Barry White thumping on the Blaupunkt. RideLust says, “Although billed as the poor man’s 5-series, we guarantee the women you attract in a Pontiac G8 GT will be a.) just as hot and b.) less maintenance than anything you’d get in a BMW.”

The list in whole is:

Dodge Ram 1500 ST

MazdaSpeed 3

Ford Mustang GT

Pontiac G8 GT

Chrysler 300 Touring

Subaru Impreza WRX STi

Dodge Charger SRT8

Hyundai Genesis 4.6

Hummer H2

Ford Crown Victoria

We have to question the Crown Vic being on this list. The only action these things have ever seen in the back seat is when they’re being used as police cars.

G8Nation introduced you two people to the Pontiac G8 community this week.

G8Nation introduced two people to the Pontiac G8 community this week. First was Warrack Leach, designer of the 2010 Pontiac G8 ST. Second was Christine Kozlowski who won a 2008 White Hot 11U Pontiac G8 after being crowned Ms. Mississippi.

There were two notable Pontiac G8 reviews in the news. First was the NY Daily News review of the Pontiac G8 GT and then Car and Drivers review of the G8 V6 where Mark Gillies noted the G8 V6 sedan as a compelling alternative to the Toyota Avalon, Ford Taurus and Chrysler 300 Touring.

Cars.com reported that the Pontiac G8 spent an average of 30 days sitting on dealer lots in June before being purchased by some lucky owner. The time on lots increased significantly from the May report of only 16 days.

Finally, G8Nation was responsible for breaking two related news stories this week. Both stories were focused on the colors of the upcoming Pontiac G8 GXP. We first reported that the G8 GXP would not be made available in the orange show car color. Finally, Jim Hopson let us break the news that the G8 GXP would be available in every color of the G8 color palette.

Keep sending us your Pontiac G8 news and questions.

The Pontiac G8 GXP debuted at the NYC Auto Show this past March in an amazing color that seems like it could have been based on Ignition Orange Metallic (77U). As amazing as that color was, we hope you didn’t get too attached to it.

G8Nation has learned that GM is still discussing color availability for the Pontiac G8 GXP; however, we know three things are certain:

the show car color will not be available

there will not be any GXP-unique colors available

the availability of GXP colors is limited to the 2009 Pontiac G8 colors, however, it’s possible that certain colors may not be available on the GXP

The 2009 Pontiac G8 colors are:

Liquid Red 62U

Correction - Confirmed on June 24, 2008, the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT will not offer the 6 speed Tremec manual transmission .

The gang at CarDomain.com recently had the pleasure of breaking bread with Maximum Bob. They were relentless at getting an answer to the all important question….”What’s with the disappearance of the stick shift from modern cars?”

Mr. Lutz responded by reminding us that gone are the days where manual transmissions are more fuel efficient than automatics. So in order to meet the all-important average fleet MPG goals, the number of sticks needs to be reduced.

On to the good stuff…we’ll keep it short and sweet….Lutz confirmed that the G8 GT will have an optional Tremec six-speed for 2009.

Rejoice my friends….rejoice.

It looks like the Pontiac G8 marketing team will have to get to work to replace the powerful marketing line, “The most powerful car available under $30 Grand”.

According to a car dealer who posts on G8Board, Pontiac has just released preliminary pricing for the 2009 G8 Sedan (V6) and the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. G8Nation has not verified this information.

2009 G8 Sedan Base has been bumped up $400 bucks to $27,995 including destination.

2009 G8 has been bumped up 3 times that of the V6 to $31,360. That’s a whopping $1,365 price increase.

The 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP pricing was not released.

The pricing of the options packages has not changed.

We know that the 2009 G8 will have XM standard and might might not might have Bluetooth. This price increase may just be a strategy to not deter any purchases of the 2008 G8s that are parked on dealer lots for an average of 16 days while people wait for the 09s to roll in. If you’ve been waiting to buy a G8, now is the time.

When Holden does finally go green, there is a strong possibility that the Pontiac G8 will go green as well in the form of a Hybrid Pontiac G8 or a turbocharged 4-banger.

The buzz around OZ this morning is that Holden is taking significant steps to go green. The first step in going green is to reintroduce a 4 cylinder engine that will not doubt bring flashbacks back to those who remember the sluggish flight of the 1984 Holden Commodore. However, unlike the 4 of 1984, the possible upcoming will likely have a turbocharger that should allow the bird to crank out more power than the current 3.6 liter V6.

Nick Reilly, General Motors Group VP stated that in addition to a smaller power plant, other environmentally friendly technologies are also being researched including diesel, CNG (natural gas) and hybrid, and quickly confirmed that a hybrid Commodore would be on sale sometime around 2010.

Since the Holden Commodore is build on the Zeta platform shared by it’s American brother, the Pontiac G8, any powertrain that is made for the Commodore, will easily slide into the G8 engine bay. When Holden does finally go green, there is a strong possibility that the Pontiac G8 will go green as well in the form of a Hybrid Pontiac G8 (ahem…we told ya so) or a turbocharged 4-banger. Buy your Pontiac G8 this decade folks!

To date, the only stripes we have seen on the G8, are the ones on 50 Cent’s ride that was unveiled at SEMA. They were tastefully done and looked pretty slick.

It looks like GM has been experimenting with some new stripe designs and somebody close to the proving grounds in Royal Oak, MI has captured a few spy shots. Unfortunately, I think this is the worst application of stripes on American sheet metal I have ever seen.

One source close to GM has stated that the stripes are an option, however, a check on the GM Reference Guide and I notice there is no mention. Let’s hope GM can come up with something a little better looking.

As expected, Bob Lutz is flexing his muscles and throwing his support to the development of the G8 Coupe.

When we first reported on the Holden Coupe 60 back in March, there was speculation that it could hint at either the upcoming G8 GXP or a new G8 Coupe. Since the NY Auto Show, we have realized the GXP coming out later this year and will have just as many doors as the G8GT.

Inside Line is reporting that the G8 coupe is real and has a strong possibility of coming to the US. If Holden ends up producing a coupe on the rear-wheel-drive Zeta platform and Lutz and his faithful followers get their way, the two-door would be offered in GXP and GT variants to match the sedan, possibly within the next three years.

As seen in these illustrations, the G8 Coupe GXP will depart somewhat structurally from the Holden Coupe 60. The G8 Coupe will develop a B-pillar and fixed rear side glass in production trim.

You can also expect many parts from the GXP Sedan to make its way into the new G8 Coupe. Most obviously are the 19-inch wheels, 245/40ZR19-spec summer tires and a version of the GXP’s aggressive front fascia. That rolling gear would be attached to the sedan’s stiff FE3 suspension and, like the sedan, the GXP coupe would offer an optional Tremec six-speed manual transmission.

CAFÉ standards have some people worried about the future of the G8 and other beloved American Muscle cars. One source within Pontiac recently stated, “The G8 Coupe is not dead. This is an uphill battle. It shouldn’t be. But it is.” When pressed, our source indicates that the chance of getting the coupe is probably less than 50 percent.

“The G8 GXP, the G8 sport truck and the G8 wagon were all part of the plan. Then they pulled all three just three or four months ago. It was a classic over-reaction to CAFE. We got the GXP back and, because Lutz is a big fan of the sport truck we got that back, too. But then Dodge killed the Magnum and that was the end of the wagon,” our source says.

As expected, Bob Lutz is flexing his muscles and throwing his support to the development of the G8 Coupe.

Can it really get much better for the 2008 Pontiac G8 GT? It already has major bang-for-the buck- with a sub-$30K base price, rear wheel drive and 361 ponies being produced by the 6.0L V8. Well, apparently Lutz has a little more bang up his sleeve. If the above image is genuine, then it looks like the G8 GXP may get a little more muscle courtesy of the LS3, 6.2L V8.

An employee from an unnamed dealership has shared a pic of GM’s inventory controls website that indicates a new engine option for the 2009 G8 GXP. The LS3 replaced the LS2 as the base Corvette engine during the 2008 model year. When this heart is transplanted in the Vette, it produces 430 hp from 376 cubic inches.

The production of the Cadillac XLR occurring side-by-side with the Vette, changed the days of Corvette components only being used by the Vette. In addition to sharing with the XLR, you will also find the Corvette power plant in the CTS-V.

I can’t imagine many things anything that would be better than a shoe-horned LS3 in a Pontiac G8 GXP. Here’s hoping to truth behind this rumor!

The Pontiac G8 is the most significant and highly-anticipated vehicle to come to Pontiac in a generation. With a V8, rear wheel drive, and awesome looks, all at a rumored sub-$30K price, the demand for the Great 8 should be significant.

At this time, the Australian production plant will be capable of producing approximately 50,000 G8s for delivery to America in 2008. Many industry analysts think that this supply will not come close to satisfying market demand. This inventory nightmare will result in dealership wars, price premium, and a nation of angry G8 enthusiasts.

These production issues are a challenge when just considering the G8. However, if you consider the other Zeta-based vehicles in the future for GM (Camaro, Impala, etc), you would have to assume that they would be produced in Motor City. Will it make sense to bring some or all of the G8 production here as well, or is there greater economy of scale to keep the G8 next to its Holden brethren during the production process?
