Being introduced late in the 2008 model year, the first year Pontiac G8 had only 3 and-a-half months of exclusivity on dealer lots before having to compete with the 2009 Pontiac G8. Between mid March and June 30, Pontiac sold 6,230 G8s, with a monthly breakdown as follows:
- March 2008 Pontiac G8 sales = 777
- April 2008 Pontiac G8 sales = 2,126
- May 2008 Pontiac G8 sales = 1,831
- June 2008 Pontiac G8 sales = 1,536
Unfortunately, we don’t have a break down of sales my trim between the V6 sedan and the V8 GT. However, G8Nation has obtained the total number of 2008 Pontiac G8s produced, not only in total, but by engine offering as well.
According to GM, there were a total of 12,045 Pontiac G8s produced for the 2008 model year. The Pontiac G8 V6 sedan accounted for 5,902 of total G8 production and the G8 GT accounted for 6,143 of total production. For those of you who are wondering, that’s a 49% / 51% split between the two G8 trim lines respectively.
This means that as of June 30, there are still 5,815 2008 G8s still looking for owners. The excess could be the reason for the price increase in the 2009 Pontiac G8. Now should be a good time to get some good deals on a 2008 Pontiac G8.
