The biggest complaint about the Pontiac G8 has been addressed for 2009. The second biggest complaint seems to be a tie between the lack of visual GPS and Bluetooth. We know that Bluetooth will be added mid model year 2009, however, it looks like in dash GPS will still be absent.
A Michigan-based tech company called Azentek may give G8 owners exactly what they’re looking for, and more. It’s called the Azentek Atlas. The Atlas is a two-din in-dash infotainment unit that is packed full of features to make your commutes more tolerable, productive and fun. Think Ford/Microsoft Sync on steroids.
Available fall of 2008, this Windows based in-dash infotainment computer features a 6.5″ color touch screen. The system has everything from regular radio functions, WiFi Internet access, vehicle diagnostics, Microsoft Office functions, GPS, e-mail, 120 Gig hard drive, and much much more. Most features can be accessed via voice command. The Atlas is expected to retail for about $2,799.
“And when parked, you could pull out a keyboard and have full use of browsing the Internet or finishing a PowerPoint presentation”, said Jerry Carlson, Azentek’s Chief Technology Officer as he was sitting behind the wheel of a Magnetic Gray Metallic (18U) Atlas equipped a Pontiac G8. Oh yeah…the Atlas can be installed in other cars too.
Azentek VP of Sales & marketing, Pete Muller stated that the Atlas will be standard issue in at least one model of one vehicle in 2010. Given Azentek’s affinity for the Pontiac G8, do you think they could be talking about the 2010 Pontiac G8 ST?
