Car & Driver has already paid accolades to the 2008 Pontiac G8 GT. Today, C&D editor Steve Siler, has decided to pin the G8 GT against the competition. In his eyes, the Pontiac G8 GT competitors included:
- 2008 Chrysler 300 C
- 2008 Dodge Charger R/T
- 2009 Hyundai Genesis
- 2008 BMW 550i
- 2008 Chevrolet Impala SS
- 2008 Cadillac CTS
Conclusion…add a few more stripes to the proverbial sleeve of the G8. Siler goes on to pay mad props to the Pontiac G8, dismissing its Australian heritage and calling it as American as apple pie.
Siler said, “The sexy sedan gets even better-and more American, never mind that it’s built in Australia-in G8 GT form, endowed as it is with 361 horsepower of tire-smokin’ fury from a 6.0-liter L67 V-8, which helps it hit 60 mph from a standstill in just 5.3 seconds and comes with cylinder deactivation to save a few sips of fuel. What has us just as thrilled is its ability to turn and stop with the same level of zeal. And at a base price of just $29,995 and a loaded price not even 10 percent higher, the G8 represents the sort of performance bargain that makes us proud to be you-know-what”.
When considering competition from Chrysler, Dodge, Hyundai, & BMW, Siler is convinced that our beloved 2008 Pontiac G8 GT “stands tall as a serious muscle machine with a combination of space, power, and bold style that few cars can touch, especially for the dough.”
I guess we’ll be referencing this post in the list of reviews included in our “Pontiac G8 Sets the Bar for GM and Sets Expectations for a Bright Future” post.
Keep it up GM!
